History

The Methodist Church marches on
Harlesden High St in North West London.

Founded in 1869 and bombed in 1941, it was rebuilt in the fifties on its present site and refurbished in 1996.

Our church building is set in the middle of a crowded London suburb, set about with shops, takeaways, pubs, clubs and nail parlours. It stands on a busy street where our Lord can be encountered in any number of guises at any time of day or night.

We are a one-church circuit, with a mainly black congregation finding roots in the Caribbean and in West Africa.

In the 60's Keith Johnson and David Haslam set the pattern for strong visible action and protest…a tradition which has been carried on by the congregation and its ministers ever since…. and our banner has been carried through the streets of London as a witness to our love and concern for the poor, the powerless and the troubled in our country and across the world. Issues of Apartheid, war, guns and drugs have seen us on the march!

The banner will now also carry our message across the Internet.

In our worship we always include a welcome and invitation to newcomers to identify themselves and in our extended giving of the peace we encourage everyone to greet friends and strangers across the congregation so that all will know that we are one family in Christ.

Join us if you are in London NW and please pray for us.
